Credit Cards. You can't live with 'em, but you can't live without 'em. At least, that's what some people would say. Most people hear the words "Credit Card" and start to cringe, thinking about what they owe on their own card. At the same time, however, you can't really go through life in the modern world without plastic. Some would even say that they would never leave home without it, that it's perfect emergency money, or that there is no other practical way to pay for gas for your car. For the most part, all of that is correct, so why suffer through having a credit card?
Luckily enough for the people, credit card companies are making having and using credit card rewarding. These Rewards Credit Cards, as they are often called, do exactly what it sounds like they do. Since you are already spending money whenever you use a credit card, you might as well get rewarded for it, right? Especially if you have to pay back more than the amount of money you spend eventually. Rewards Credit Cards use a variety of programs to help make your spending worthwhile. Certain stores and industries will offer credit cards supported by the major credit card companies, like Sears, Best Buy, and even some airlines.
There are a number of different types of rewards you can receive by using Rewards Credit Cards. Some places will offer gift certificates for in-store purchases after you have spent a certain amount of money with the card. With other cards, your rewards may come in the form of cash prizes, gifts, airline miles, and a number of other things. Some stores have rewards programs where your store credit card doubles as a membership card, so you get discounts on your purchase simply by using the card! How neat is that? While credit cards have been around for a long time now, Rewards Credit Cards are catching like wildfire among customers. Rewards make it easier to justify expenses and blow lots of cash on things they never expected to buy, just so they can get their rewards. Most people might see this as another sneaky way for card issuers to swindle their customers, but with rewards, can you really complain? Smart shoppers will look extensively at all sorts of credit cards before they find the Rewards Credit Card that suits them best. Smart businessmen who go on frequent long distance trips for work will usually have airline-affiliated credit cards which give them rewards of free flights when they book their travel using the card. Contractors may find it good to find a credit card based on their favorite hardware store, and the like.
The real trick to Rewards Credit Cards is actually taking advantage of the rewards where possible. These types of cards feel a lot more like scams when you see the kind of effort some issuers will put into making it difficult to redeem your rewards. At the same time, lots of card issuers will raise the fees on their cards to compensate for the rewards they often don't end up giving their customers anyway.
